Qualification
  • Competent person:
  • Instrument Technician
  • 3 to 4 years Apprenticeship programme
  • Trade test qualification as Instrument Technician/Mechanician Min: N3
 
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in industrial instrumentation and process control in petro, chemical, paper & pulp, smelter or mining industry
     
Specific tasks and functions.
  • Maintain, program, repair and calibrate all process instrumentation, which includes pneumatic, electronic, microprocessor based and solid state equipment as well as analytical equipment
  • Install and commission new equipment and upgrade old installations
  • Conduct fault finding to eliminate problems
 
General requirements.
  • Good computer literate including maintenance management systems.
  • Good English communication (read, speak, write) 
  • Stand-by and overtime requirement including weekends (planned and on short notice)
  • Reside in NMMM area (company to provide reasonable relocation if outside NMMM area)
  • Own transport
  • Able to read piping and instrument diagrams
  • Team player
           
Physical activity
  • Able to perform required functions: walking, carrying , climbing, working on heights, good vision
  • Exposure to internal and external environmental conditions, noise, hazards

  • DCS experience
  • N4 qualification
