Regional Director (Western Cape)
Responsible for the delivery, growth, profitability and sustainability of the Cape Town Cost Management (QS) business unit through leadership, new business development, client management and service delivery.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience – 5 of which at Senior Management level.
  • Recognized university degree in the built environment and an integral understanding of CM (QS) services.
  • Must have a professional Quantity Surveyor registration (PrQS or MRICS)
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations preferably SACQSP, and  ASAQS or RICS.
  • Needs to have operated in a consulting environment for at least 10 years at a senior level.
  • Significant network and understanding of property market in the Western Cape. Knowledge of the broader Southern African market is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical ability with good communication skills

  • The Cape Town CM (QS) Management Team is effectively structured, engaged and led.
  • Have a developed understanding of the market and existing market knowledge and developed network.
  • Develop a CM Business Plan that maximises the companies position in the market place and achieves the 2020 Vision goals.
  • Strong relationships are developed with clients and cross-functional team members.
  • Business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross- selling opportunities, are identified and actioned.
  • Margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts are tracked on all commissions and across all offices.
  • Manage debt control.
  • Key information and data is effectively cascaded and appropriately retained.
  • General line management responsibilities are effectively discharged.
  • Fully understand the wider service offering and can engage clients around these aspects.

  • Responsible for the Strategy, Direction, Leadership and Commercial success of the companies Cost Management business in Cape Town. The ultimate goal is to grow a sustainable business year on year.
  • The role and responsibilities will include Marketing, Business Development and Client networking, securing of commissions, Recruitment of Management and Technical Staff relating to delivery, establishing a culture of quality delivery, engagement with Regional and global Key Account Clients in Africa.
  • The geographic scope is the Western Cape, however there will be an interface and close working relationship with our teams and offices across South Africa, Sub-Saharan and even globally.
  • Contributing, as a member of the Senior Africa executive, to the creation and implementation of strategic and financial plans focused on the growth and development of the market sector.
  • Ensuring the development of priority plans including risk mitigation, performance measurements, management controls and critical success factors.
  • Develop a business plan with clear accountability and targets. Compile annual budgets aligning with the business plan and delivering against those targets.
  • Implement and monitor regional and key accounts.
  • Compile and review the business plan and take corrective action.
  • Prioritize clients, opportunities and assess effort levels and return.
  • Build personal relationships with key client decision makers.
  • Convert opportunities through management of bid process including global bids, incorporating global best practice.
  • Manage and drive process of new product Service Development.
  • Taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations on topics of relevant experience and knowledge and/or partnering with other team members to generate new business.
  • Working with senior management across other sectors and regions to construct bids for new work.
  • Attending relevant networking events and promotional opportunities.
  • Conduct Client Care process.
  • To act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value added property service managing new and existing client relationships in growing revenue, through contract renewals, referrals and service expansion.
  • Manage and oversee operations through commission managers, focusing on problem areas.
  • Overall responsibility for business unit governance and compliance with internal business management system.
  • Manage Quality Assurance process providing regular updates regarding the status of projects / initiatives, and where appropriate, highlighting issues of concern, and/or conflict.
  • Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve procedures, templates, products and strive to continuously improve the services provided to clients.
  • Knowledge management – Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the internal database.
  • Financial management – Utilising the tools provided to track the ongoing margin levels, monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission and financial reports.
  • Manage CM business unit billing process and interact with Regional Director, Financial Director and all Commission Managers.
  • Manage with the Regional Director the P&L and report at board level on improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiating contract fees ensuring profitable outcomes for the CM business unit and managing the operation within the approved budget.
  • Ensuring client invoices are accurate and issued on a timely basis. Following-up on accounts receivables.
  • Oversee with HR the business unit people process
  • Coaching and mentoring staff, assisting them to achieve professional designations.
  • Attract and interview candidates to join our team through demeanor, positive attitude and ability to promote the company.
  • Manage annual appraisal for CM employees.
  • Provide input for salary reviews and bonuses.
  • Encourage opportunities for the professional development and advancement of all colleagues under your supervision.
