Main purpose of the Job:
Merchandise planners are in charge of developing effective merchandise strategies for their company. They are responsible for creating sound financial plans that reduce company spending, and increase overall profit. This involves working closely with the buying teams to accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels and monitor performance.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • Retail Planning Diploma
  • 5 years retail fashion planning experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license and own car, usually required 
Key Performance Areas:
  • Influencing and implementing merchandise strategy
  • Financial and strategic management of the various products
  • Category planning and Product planning
  • Reviewing weekly and monthly figures
  • Forecasting profits and sales, and optimising the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas
  • Planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new ranges
  • Management of the range assortments and replenishment
  • Analysing stores profiles and sales trends
  • Developing promotional and range distribution by store
  • Communication with buying teams, warehouse and operations
  • Analyzing sales figures, customers reactions and market trends to anticipate product needs.
  • Controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season
Skills Required:
