IM - Technician

Summary
First line IT support covering both office and shop-floor systems. As part of a greater IT service and support team, the emphasis is on delivering a reliable and customer focused service 
 
Responsibilities
  • Support and maintenance of Windows desktop and laptop systems for a 400 user local area network including first line support on Microsoft productivity suites
  • Support and maintenance of Windows desktop equipment used in the manufacturing process
  • Support and maintenance of peripheral equipment including office printers, audio visual kit, barcode scanners, label printers and mobile devices (e.g. smart phones)
  • Commissioning and upgrading of both server and PC equipment
  • First line support and maintenance of site telecoms infrastructure – CISCO and IP DECT
  • First line support and maintenance of site LAN switches – CISCO
  • Liaison with various service providers – both local and remote
  • Active Directory management and maintenance
  • IM asset management and tracking
  • After hours support will be required at times – either delivered remotely or on site when required 
Required qualifications and skills
  • Minimum A+, N+ or equivalent,  MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) certification preferable
  • Candidates with a tertiary diploma in an IT related field will be given preference
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT Support role
  • At least 2 years’ experience in commissioning, maintenance, management and troubleshooting of LAN related hardware for a 200 or larger end-user base. Sound working knowledge of Windows operating systems and productivity suites within a Windows Active Directory 2008/2012/2016 environment
  • Driver’s license and own transport is essential

  • Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with various end-users including shopfloor operators, engineers, scientists and senior management
  • Service-oriented mentality essential
  • Self-motivated individual who can work on their own initiative
  • Team orientated individual, willing to assist in all areas of support and to learn new technologies and processes
  • Capacity for working under pressure in order to ensure continuity and on-time delivery of systems
  • Logical and structured approach towards troubleshooting
  • Strong background in documentation of their work
