Client Advisory - Insurance/Broking

Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Job Purpose
The candidate will be responsible for the growth and development of a medium sized book of business including looking at ways to improve service efficiencies and maximised revenue opportunities.
The main role will encompass the following:
  • Facilitate and maintain sound working relationships with clients, colleagues and markets, including but not limited to local markets
  • Develop intimate knowledge of the client’s business including knowing who the decision makers are
  • Know and understand the nature and scope of the client’s insurance policy
  • Prepare and agree service level agreement with client, where applicable
  • Market products and services available
  • Prepare strategy document and participate in strategy, contact and management meetings
  • Prepare budget for client and understand the importance of client profitability
  • Prepare and agree fee and client service level agreement with Divisional Manager, as applicable
  • Prepare monthly variance report feedback for Divisional Manager
  • Pursue new business opportunities
  • Prepare annual questionnaires and presentations for reviews/renewals
  • Review and agree full claims statistics and premium schedules with colleague and market
  • Distribute minutes of meetings within 3 working days
  • Prepare broking notes and negotiate terms and policy wordings with Insurers
  • Check and sign-off policy wording, summary/manual and submit to client with 30 days of renewal
  • Confirm cover changes in writing within 24 working hours, to clients, colleagues and markets, as applicable
  • Maintain client files and ensure relevant communications and documents are saved in the appropriate manner
  • Review accounts regularly and ensure that relevant uninsured/uninsurable risks are discussed with clients
  • Monitor client’s account and ensure that where necessary risk trends are identified and discussed
  • Maintain a diary system
  • Keep abreast with the insurance markets (both local and overseas)
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all insurance wordings
  • Be familiar and comply with all company policies i.e. Errors & Omissions, SLAs, statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain general knowledge of specialist classes of insurance i.e. aviation, credit, contract works, risk finance (cell captives)
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all standards applicable in respect of the client service delivery function
Qualification and Experience
  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent
  • AIISA or similar
  • FAIS Compliant (minimum 150 credits)
  • 5 years’ appropriate experience in commercial insurance and client service delivery
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English
